Sorry, for telling you
Sísí's series of apologies is renowned. The excuses first appeared at the joint exhibition of the art group Afsakið in 2021.
"I excuse myself a lot, a lot, but I'm at least somewhat better than my mother and she's a little bit better than her mother. I started working with the excuses [...] perhaps primarily as a kind of ode to my mother and other foremothers. It soon evolved into a kind of self-work which then perhaps developed into making fun of this ridiculously common need of ours, especially women, to excuse ourselves and downright diminish ourselves. Which, of course, we shouldn't do. Today, these there are hundreds of excuses and I'm not done at all."
The original pieces are handmade embroidery. This piece is a limited edition reprint of the original artwork. The print is framed in an oak frame.
Framed reprint number 5/5, size with frame 41.4x31.7cm.
