Artists: Hildigunnur Sigvalda 

Hildigunnur is an image author and an artist living in Reykjavík. She graduated from Falmouth University in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in drawing and is currently pursuing a master's degree in art education at the Iceland University of the Arts. 

"I have always found beauty in everyday life and usually draw subjects that are from my local environment. I get some desire to capture what I find beautiful on paper. It can be the cup of coffee with breakfast or a pink sunset that sparks interest. Still lifes have long been practiced in art history, but they have lost their artistic value to a certain extent in modern times. The subjects may seem rather feminine, which is often looked down upon. I still think it's important to appreciate the things around you and I'd like to encourage people to stop, slow down, consume less and learn to find the beauty in what you have."
