The work is created for the article Homelessness is a sexual health issue (ísl. Heimilisleysi er kynheilbrigðismál) by Indíana Rós.
Homeless people in sex work are often in more need than people who have safe shelter, which also makes them more exposed to violence. The payment for sex work is not necessarily always just money, but can also be a roof over your head or drugs. The need makes it more difficult to set boundaries, or refuse certain services, if the need is great. Homeless people are also less likely to get a background check on their customers, which makes the job more risky. Homeless persons who use drugs are then less likely to use condoms because they have not received appropriate education, cannot afford them or do not have access to sexually transmitted diseases and contraception."
